Specially designed flashings are required between every joint on a roof.

Most houses in Sydney have a tile roof at the front and an additional metal skillion roof at the rear. This is where a tile flashing is needed.

The intersection between the tile roof (which is usually steeper) … and the low pitched metal roof (klipolok, trimdek or corrugated profiles) should be flashed correctly using a tile or transition flashing.

Many roofs do not have the correct tile flashing and this is where problems can arise. Pieces of lead are not the correct way of flashing the intersection…

These training You Tube videos show what tile transition flashings are … and how it is installed to stop leaks between the tile and metal roofs…

  1. Des says:

Where do you get the transition flashing from and what do you use to seal it?

  2. Jack Yuen says:

The transition flashing is usually a colorbond metal flashing that you can order from any flashing supplier.
Traditional neutral cure silicone is best for colorbond sealing work.
